[Resolved] Installation of plex serveur BETA faild on QNAP TS-832X

I am 100% certain the file is correct, and valid.
I have loaded and am running this exact file on the TS-128A.

At this point, you have a problem with your system. I suggest:

  1. Backup the configuration of QTS
  2. Restart the NAS
  3. Reinstall QTS on top of itself. (Manual firmware installation).
  4. Restart the NAS after firmware installation
  5. Remove PMS
  6. “Manual Install” the file you downloaded from me again.

If this fails to correct the problem, you will need to contact QNAP Tech Support.

Throughout this Alpha and Beta test, QNAP has been receiving these packages and testing them as well. They have not reported any problems. They will be able to help you better since they know their machine at a deeper level than I do.

If this were a widespread problem, everyone would be reporting it.

On the QNAP /usr/lib we have a libcurl in right ELF format
I tried to copy it to /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/lib
and plex faild on the next library, so there are realy a problem with lib’s on the package

And if i’m roolback with PlexMediaServer-1.13.6.176-dd1845234-aarch64.qpkg plex work again.
There is no problem with QTS or the system.
Plex don’t use /usr/lib but is own lib in /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/lib

I will look further in the morning. It is 02:45 am here for me.

I have been working since 11:00 am today. Time to sleep.

Only you have reported this issue. I am bewildered

Have a goog night  see you tomorow

This line

    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="${QPKG_DIR}/lib"

Tells PMS where to look for the libcurl.so file. It specifically points to the /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/lib

Why your system is looking elsewhere is unknown

You right, i’m not discuss about that
I’m confirm plex use /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/lib

I’m juste testing to copy the curl QTS os lib to plex library. (to confirm bad ELF format of lib in the package)

I am telling you. The ELF in the package is NOT bad.

Ok @ChuckPa
Will finish to find the problem.
have a good night  we continue tomorrow

So why when i used QTS libcurl it’s work … it’s very strange.

Yes! I agree! VERY strange. I cannot explain it. YET.

I will contact QNAP Engineering when I wake.

We WILL find the answer .

I will let you know what they have to say.

While I sleep, would you confirm you also see this behavior? This is very unexpected.

Notice the fields are not filled in?

This might be a firmware bug.

Also notice on 4.3.5.0722, it is correct.

This is mine :

Try to resize your windows with the mouse, it’s a glitch

I’m saving my current plex install and i’ll try to completely remove and reinstall it.

Ps : Tomorrow if you want an access to my NAS i can give you an access via TeamViwer or AnyDesk.

I could not go to sleep until I know where the problem might be.
Please look here.

I reloaded an older version of QTS. I think we have a bad firmware floating around.

Do you have 0722 to test with later?

We will make arrangements and then can launch PMS and make other system tests as needed.

SO bizarre.

Have a great day.

I’m at your service for testing
we will see it after your night. (It’s the morning for me i’m just wake-up)

I’ve made a fresh install and still have the problem.

@ChuckPa Do you have some news ?

We are doing two things:

  1. We are going to create a custom build for you to test with different memory alignment.
  2. I will also test that build on the TS-128A
  3. If that build works on all ARMv8 QNAP machines, it will become the new default.
