Suddenly I can't open Plex from my Qnap (TS-119), it just "says": "Waiting for 192.168.1.10". MediaLink (LG Smart TV) Says it can't find any Plex Media Server.
I have tried to uninstall (and reinstall) the Plex App from my Qnap but still nothing happens?
I managed to get into Plex by using your link - but only for a short moment of joy :-). Then Plex wouldn't respond and now it is just the same :-(. Now I get from "just waiting" to get into a "Plex Layout" but with the message "We are sorry, but we can't reach this server".
That is great news. The number of people (including myself) that intalled the QNAP version only to be caught by a huge number of issues must be pretty high...I originally gave up on Plex until I found the (then unofficial) ARM builds here.
30 years of UNIX and C, 22 years of web admin, not comfortable with any revision control system, can sort of follow python. Been having trouble with Plex on ubuntu 12.04, which seems to have two versions installed, one in /var/lib and one in /usr/lib. Decided to mess with unused Plex on QNAP TS-212. All videos 480p x.264 mp4s. Deleted old Plex, then discovered they did not have a new version in the QNAP app store. Tried to install pms 0.9.9.12 arm for QNAP from /root on my NAS by 'sh Plex*.qpkg', got media error leaving partial install. rm -rf ~/.qpkg/plexmediaserver . Tried to install 0.9.9.10 from /share/Public since I had obviously run out of room on the ramdisk. That seemed to finish, but now I had lost the desktop Plex icon on the admin interface, so tried to launch in a browser window with http://dotted-quad:32400 and got an XML error in the browser. rm -rf'ed again and installed 0.9.9.7 which installed fine running as a shellscript, but I still got the XML error. Then found this thread which reminded me that the correct URL had /web after the port number. Now I can get to the PMS server admin interface.
I would like to restore the startup button on the admin interface. Would the above link help me do that? How would I use the stuff above?
By the way, even though there is no desktop icon to launch plex/web, App Center does show my truly hand-loaded PlexMS as on and does have a launch button which works.
Thank you for your time on this forum and this issue.

Since you just did an install, I guess you don't have a database of significant size, so try this:
Uninstall from the appstore if possible.....
If not, then:
ssh to QNAP, and go to /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer
type ./plex.sh stop
Remove the /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer directory
Check /root directory for a directory named Library, and if present, remove it
Check /root directory for a directory named .plex, and if present, remove it
Then download my qpkg, and install manually via Appstore, run it, and allow it to install the latest version
And remember, that the TS-212 is ARM based, and as such, very slow during initializing of Plex, as well as when scanning....
Also note, that transcoding is not supported on an ARM CPU, and as such, make sure that your medias are compatible with your players
Hi Dane, forgive me if I have missed an instruction somewhere, but I am hoping your qpkg will fix my issue too. But once I've installed the qkpg, what is supposed to happen? I just have a PlexInst 0.4 logo in my app centre and nothing is happening.
Ok, I need help bad. qnap ts 231, dual bay, downloaded plex to laptop, installed manually. it looks like its there, but i go to open it, it try to open a new browser tab/window and can’t connect. how do i get this thing running on here?
