[RESOLVED] Live TV & DVR - Guide data for this DVR will no longer be updated after January 1, 2021

I can’t seem to schedule recording of new Saturday Night Live episodes. If I record repeat & new, it only schedules the earlier episode (the repeat). If I record only new episodes, it says no upcoming airings.

I deleted my existing DVR and attempted to recreate it, however, it seems to be plagued with a bug from a year ago where setup gets stuck at the program guide search. I have repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled, same issue. Anyone else seeing this?

Attempted to recreate my DVR just for it get stuck. I rolled back to 1.19 which seems to be the last version of Plex which wasn’t broke in regards to the DVR\Live Tv. Plex, hire a QA team and test your software before you push it to your customers!! Dev testing is clearly not getting it done…

I’m stuck there too

THIS IS JUST INSANE.
Just saw the banner today. I almost never go into the PMS on my computer since I use the Roku /iOS apps exclusively to watch/record shows unless I have a recording issue or need to manually add some videos.
As has been said already, you can’t set up a show to record unless it is in the guide data. This could have been handled better I think. I have not looked into how Plex stores the recordings. If it is XML I may see if I can hack it to add all my recordings back in depending on the elements required.

Personally I’m a bit irritated this message thread is marked resolved.

ok, Today is Jan 5th but I see data in the guide all the way through Jan 17th till 6pm US/Central. Yes, I’m in the US. I can see scheduled recordings through Jan 16th.

Is the guide really stopped working as of Jan 1 or is this just it will stop working and you don’t know exactly when.

I did a little searching and I don’t see where the recordings setup is stored so far. Must be in a database of some sort, encrypted or not in 1 of the 3 locations I checked where I know there is plex code/data/logs. maybe inside of one of the dat files.

I’m stuck at the screen where it loads the program guide as well. :frowning:

So I attempted to delete and recreate my DVR this morning. Delete and recreate seemed to work correctly. I was prompted with all the steps, guide data download looked to happen correctly.

After completing the setup process, I was surprised to find all of my scheduled recordings still existed, and the guide data runs runs out this Friday. I’m guessing for some reason it brought back in my old DVR instance and did not create a new one. Anyone have any ideas?

You have to manually delete and recreate your scheduled recordings for them to use the Gracenote EPG data.

Thank you.

I did eventually figure that out. My expectation based on how the pop-up banners were written was that the old scheduled recordings would have been deleted in the process. That being said, it would be useful if they could flag the entries in the list that are no longer receiving guide data.

I followed the instructions to delete my DVR configuration and create a new one. I did this and I didn’t get any errors but now the Guide will not populate. It lists my channels and the channel names populated. I have stopped and started the server. It runs from a Seagate Personal Cloud. Still the Guide will not populate. From the DVR settings page if I try to initialize the guide, it goes through 1%-100% initializing and finishes but still no Guide entries. Any ideas?

I have to say the notifications for this change have been very shoddy. No emails, nothing. I didn’t even see this notification until today when I was trying to figure out what was wrong.
I also agree with others here that it’s appalling that we have to rebuild our DVRs and schedules yet again. The last time they did this (when they changed away from Gracenote) the DVR basically became unusable and I gave up on it for about 6 months. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen again!

This is some BULLSHIT. I just found out about this TONIGHT because I started losing recordings I was expecting to see. I am a developer, and if I did this to my users, they would have my head on a platter. I know this is open-source, but I actually DID pay for the lifetime DVR service, so I expect at least THAT part of Plex to be reasonably solid.

People should be fired over the way this was communicated and implemented. Absolutely ridiculous!

I was stuck there too. The resolution for me was not to add my full UK postcode, just the first half. Although you can enter your full postcode and hit enter to continue (resulting in the 0%), entering only the first half enabled the ‘Continue’ button

I first discovered this once the guide ran out and I tried to refresh the guide. Now we are missing our OTA programs!
So, what do I do to fix this? If I reinstall the DVR will that truly fix it? Can anyone give me guidance that has worked?

Has anyone noticed that if you recorded movies that the selection is no longer available. Over the Air movies are no longer available to select as a category unless I did something wrong.

I deleted DVRs and added them back then got my guide back however only one 1 of my 2 dvr’s can record or watch live. Both DVR’s have been added successfully with 2 tuners each but only 1 DVR (2 tuners) is getting utilized. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!
