Hi!
Sorry to bother you, but I posted the below a couple of weeks ago to some other places on this site and I haven’t gotten a reply.
If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, could you please help me or forward this to someone who can?
I am very grateful to everyone at Plex because Plex has really made the challenges in my life much easier.
Thanks in advance,
Chuck
Hi!
Sorry to bother you, but I spent hours googling and reading the Plex forums and I can’t find an answer.
I have a WesternDigital Pr4100 Nas and to fix something, WD had me do a complete System Restore which wiped the disks on the Pr4100.
Before I did that, I
-
Backed up all the files in the shared folders.
-
Went into the Pr4100 Settings-Utilities and under System Configuration, I did a Save Config File
-
Went into Plex and under Settings – Troubleshooting, I did a Download Database and stored it on my computer. I also did a Download Logs and saved that as well
Then after the System Restore, I
-
Went into the Pr4100 Settings-Utilities and under System Configuration, I did a Restore Config File
-
Copied all the files back to each of the shared folders
-
Went into the Pr4100 Apps and installed Plex
-
Plex said there was an Plex update and I downloaded and installed that so my version of Plex is current
-
I went into Plex on my Pr4100 and logged on to my Plex account using my email address and password
However, I can’t figure out how to restore the Plex database I backed up using the Plex Settings – Troubleshooting - Download Database, so that everything is like it was before I did the complete System Restore which wiped the disks on the Pr4100.
I love Plex. I cannot tell you how much it means to me. I am old, poor, alone and I have a spinal problem that even though I had surgery, it was risky and didn’t turn out so good, so I am going to be in bed and in pain for the rest of my life.
The surgeon says any more surgery would probably kill me or make things worse, so he says I will just have to live with the pain. So I will spend the rest of my life in bed and in pain. It is not so bad, since I can walk around the house when I have to, as long as I’m careful when I walk and go slow. The pains meds don’t get rid of the pain, but they help a lot.
I actually feel lucky because there are people who are blind or don’t even have legs or are homeless or in much worse shape than I am.
I mention all this because since I am alone and in bed all the time, all I have is reading books on my tablet and watching TV. All my friends have moved very far away or have died. Reading doesn’t always help distract me from the pain, but mostly watching movies and TV shows does help a lot and you know, people always talk about eliminating pain and suffering but Plex really does it.
Plex keeping track of all my movies and TV shows and making it so easy and simple to find and watch things is my whole life. I am grateful to all of you for making Plex. It means more to me than I have words to say. I am doing a bad job of explaining if you don’t realize I am close to tears writing this, because I am so grateful to all of you for making Plex.
I apologize if I went on for too long or was a blabbermouth or typos, but I’m old and take strong pain meds and they make thinking not so easy.
Thanks again in advance for you time and help, it is appreciated more than I can say…
