This has been an issue and the cause of many many complaints from this forum and reddit. I just discovered that the issue doesn’t exist when it’s music. Even if you pause for 10 hours or your computer goes to sleep the music will continue when you resume. But if it’s video, it will play only up to where the buffered part is and just display the loading animation forever. The only way to get it to continue is to refresh your browser.
Hoping this helps. This pretty much destroys the idea that you need the “keep alive” function of hosting plex on nginx port 80/443. Since it works just fine with music. And by the way the nginx “solution” doesn’t keep anything alive if you switch browser tabs and it has been inactive for 5 minutes, it’ll do the spinny thing forever when you resume.
