Resume transcoding problems with hardware acceleration enabled

Server Version#: Version 1.40.2.8312 Beta
Player Version#: Multiple: Android 10.13.0.350, Plex for Xbox 5.79.0 & Plex for LG 5.79.0

In more recent versions of Plex Server I’ve noticed significant problems with local and remote streaming being able to resume episodes of more recent format video files.

Tracking things back and from seeing similar threads like HW transcoding not working on motherboards with BMC graphics (logs attached) - Plex Media Server / Desktops & Laptops - Plex Forum I’ve confirmed that the problem is related to GPU based hardware accelerated transcoding no longer working properly like it did before.

I have now upgraded my server to current latest Beta but the issues around hardware transcoding remain across latest Android, Xbox and LG TV clients.

Older H.264 encoded files still work correctly with hardware accelerated transcoding, but newer popular formats such as HEVC Main 10 will transcode successfully if played from the start, but not if they have been stopped, exited to menu and then attempted to be resumed.

So I’m not sure if it’s an issue of the transcoder timing out when needing to seek part way through the file?
Or something else not allowing hardware decoder to resume from partway through a newer video format file?

As I can confirm that if I play the same files back from start they do play successfully.

For reference I’m experiencing this problem on an Intel i5-6500 with integrated Intel 530 GPU and 32Gb of RAM. Running Windows 10 Pro 22H2 with all updates installed.

Many thanks in advance for looking into this

So currently looks like most or all of my hardware transcoding issues with integrated Intel 530 GPU have been solved as of 18 April 2024 v.1.40.2.8395 build :slightly_smiling_face::crossed_fingers:
