I’ve remapped my Apple remote to behave more like a DVD player. LEFT/RIGHT is REW/FF and UP/DOWN is stepping (hold for big steps).
Noticed an odd bug a few years ago that has bothered me since, so I thought I should report it.
Rewind is way too fast. Fast forwarding works as expected, i.e. 2X is double the video speed, 4X is four times etc. But the 2X rewind is way faster than double the video speed. It seems more like 8X or even 16X. This makes the feature useless as it’s impossible to time it correctly. It’s simply too fast. I would like to see this fixed so that FF and REW behaves identically and 2X is actually two times the speed also when rewinding.
Try this by pressing R on your keyboard and you’ll notice it’s way too quick to be 2X (or useful).
I second this. I’ve always found Rewind to be too fast and so end up having to then FF to the required place.
I might also add that stepping is also uneven. Stepping forwards skips a longer distance than skipping backwards. Perhaps this is by design and can actually be quite useful sometimes, unlike the rewind situation.
The rewind/fast forwarding has always been a bit unstable for me. If Plex Media Center crashes it is always while fast forwarding/rewinding or starting/stopping video playback such as starting one video and pressing stop before the video starts playing.
It would be good to leave the skips as is if possible. These are better for commercial skipping than fast forwarding.

Bumping this one. Rewind is bonkers fast!
