Fired up the ol’ Apple TV this morning to enjoy some Plex, was greeted with a screen of some sort of update that had occurred.
Come to find trying to play ANY media resulted in no sound. Activating the on-screen debugging, and checking the Audio section, it just says ((null)) everywhere.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Are you using an AirPlay device (like HomePods) as your audio output?
If so go the Plex settings on your Apple TV and turn ON “Use Old Audio Engine.”

Turns out I’m a dummy, I didn’t notice that my Apple TV randomly decided at some point to not update apps. Turns out the 7.4 I was on is very old.
Got the app updates running again and the updated app started working again.
