Audio cutting out in latest Plex for AppleTV update

In the last 2 weeks, Plex on my AppleTV has started to cut out audio randomly after playing certain video’s for a couple minutes. This happens the most on 4k Videos. I have 2 HomePod mini’s paired as Stereo that I’ve been using for quite some time with no issues like this. I’ll start playing a video and then the audio will just go completely quiet while video continues to play. Pause/resume does not fix it. Going out of the video completely and then going back in resuming to play, brings the audio back again for another minute or 2, and then it goes quiet again. This has been driving me crazy the last 2 weeks. I’ve seen others report the same and that it’s due to the latest Plex for AppleTV update. I’m wanting to make sure there is a fix coming soon for this? I tried to join the Testflight beta for AppleTV but it said it was full. I’d love to gain access to help test potential fixes to issues like this going forward. I hope someone knows something about this issue? Thanks.

I too would like to join the beta testing for Apple TV.
The fact that the beta test is ‘full’ yet there have been no fixes for Apple issues in a long time, and the Apple maintainer recently got made redundant - the future doesn’t look great - unless the open beta back up to more people who want to see Plex succeed and improve for a new generation

Could you try with the setting for the old Audio Engine enabled within the Plex for Apple TV settings and let me know if that resolve the issue

That does indeed fix it. Thanks much for a workaround. The new audio engine is clearing having some major issues. :slight_smile:

Had the same issue. Disabling Volume Leveling seemed to fix it, although I didn’t test very long.

AppleTV with double HomePod minis.

I had this same problem with a classic HomePod stereo pair. On some things, I would get a brief audio dropout every couple of minutes. On some other things, a complete drop of audio after a couple of minutes that could only be solved by exiting and restarting. Some things played with no issues. There is a reddit thread about the same issue and quite a few people report the problem there as well.

Setting Plex to use the old audio engine appears to have solved the problem.
