[Roku bug]: subtitles vanish after less than a minute

  • subtitles play for less than a minute and then vanish
  • rewinding makes them appear again
  • subtitles downloaded via opensubtitles
  • subtitles work fine when played on android or web app, only Roku has issues

On the roku player, I selected Burn Subtitles: Always and this solved the problem for me.

Keep in mind that this does force the server to always transcode the video. You can’t burn in subtitles without transcoding.
I’d consider this a workaround at best.

Given that no one else responded, and that I figured it out and offered a solution for what’s clearly a bug, I don’t find that your response here holds anything of value. It’s not helpful, and I have to question why you just did this when I’m just trying to help someone this may be useful for in the future.

obviously it solved the problem for me. Fix the bug instead of complaining that it’s a workaround “at best”. It was open for a whole week. Your response simply isn’t nice, in case I need to be clear.
