External subtitles on Roku app are wildly out of sync unless burned in

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for how I can fix the playback of external subtitles on the Roku app.

Recently, depending on the movie, I noticed that subtitles will precede the audiovisual tracks anywhere from 3-12 seconds. When tested on Aegisub, the subtitles are perfectly synced. If I change “Burn Subtitles” to “Always” the subtitles will sync, though that is not really a sustainable solution (nor is converting everything to an MKV). All other topics I have found have been locked without any answers, so I figured I would see if anybody has since figured it out.

Server Version#: 1.24.0.4930 (hosted on a DS218+ running DSM 7.0-41890)
Player Version#: 6.8 * build 8 on Roku OS 10.0 (on a Roku TV)

Thank you for any time and consideration!

Warmly,
Joseph

Just to clarify, I have confirmed have the correct timings in Aegisub (in addition to successfully playing the subtitles with the correct timing when “Burn Subtitles” is set to on in the Roku app settings). I have also had no issue with any of these subtitled videos in the desktop app, Plex for Web, etc.—so I don’t believe it’s an issue with the network or server. This issue seems localized to the Roku Plex app.
