As stated in the subject line, when I am watching Live TV on Roku devices and try to direct stream them with “Allow MPEG2” setting checked, I get heavy pixelation & artifacting during certain shows. I attached a screenshot & video sample showing what I’m talking about. This has been going on for a long time. I rectify it by unchecking “Allow MPEG2” which forces the server to Transcode. (Not a huge issue, just would like to direct play/stream when possible)
The artifacting does not show up on other clients or the actual recording. Is this a limitation on the Roku? I believed I ruled out Wifi as being a source of the issue as one of the Roku’s is really close to the access point and I have no issues with other clients over Wifi. I’ve also played higher bitrate Bluray rips with no issues. Is anyone else seeing this? I created a post a while back regarding the same issue and didn’t get any response. I can upload logs if needed.
