When using the new Modern Layout, changes made to items on the Home Screen are not applied to the Home Screen unless I navigate to a different screen and then back again.
A Couple Examples:
A movie/TV show in the Continue Watching section: I “Mark as Played”. This will not be displayed in Continue Watching until I first navigate to another screen, such as Movies, first.
A movie/TV show in the Recently Added section: I delete the movie/TV show. It will not be removed from the Recently Added section until I first navigate to another screen and then back again.
The Roku gets a little cache heavy sometimes so pulling the power cable (not just a reboot from menu) can sometimes help clear up oddities with UI stuff. It takes only 30 seconds and has fixed hiccups for me in the past so I do that instead of the “reboot” these days whenever I run into problems.
I haven’t personally experienced what you’re describing on my Roku devices (1 TV, 2 Ultras), which model are you on? My Roku 3 had some UI\UX oddities with Plex that I just gave up trying to get addressed (forum topics never got traction) and upgraded it instead… it was time anyways.
I would prefer not to unplug or even restart my TV on a regular basis. I’m hoping that the devs see this and can make some improvements/adjustments to the Modern interface.
Thanks for the report! It’s actually something I noticed intermittently and logged internally. I think I’ve traced it down. A workaround in the mean time, as you alluded to, you can move to another source in the side bar and back to home. The key is that this would need to be done every time you launch the channel. This shouldfix workaround the bug most of the time. That is, after you move sources once, the home screen should properly refresh after marking content as [un]watched or remove from Continue Watching. It’s possible it may get into this state if the channel is open for a while though. We’ll have a proper fix coming soon.
