So, it doesn’t seem like I am the only one having issues streaming Live TV from my HDHomerun Extend. I get the same transcoding problems that everyone else gets. Ideally, I would like to not have to use my more powerful PC to transcode the live streams but what else can I do. The interesting thing is that if I play back a previously recorded stream, it plays perfectly fine without any transcoding going on at my PMS. So why is it I can play recordings fine from my HDHomerun Extend but not Live TV? Is it not ready for prime time?
Same issue here. What’s frustrating is this issue was resolved nearly a year ago.
I think it has something to do with how Plex handles live streams. Try making sure the quality setting on you client is set to original and see if it direct streams as opposed to transcodes.
This worked well for a while now it’s not. Setting to original didn’t fix it. If I set to force direct play, it plays, but then you can’t fast forward or rewind. It should be direct streaming, but for whatever reason it isn’t. This was previously broken and fixed with new releases of the roku client. Currently it seems to be broken under both the regular and plex pass roku clients.
Well I’m wrong here. Got it working by setting everything to original in settings. Setting to original in the menu for the video didn’t work. At some point these settings changed on me somehow.
