Server Version#: PMS version 4.156.0
Player Version#: Plex App version 9.4.12.11176 (March 11, 2026)
I’m using a 2025 Roku Smart TV Select Series 4K. Ever since they updated the app to the “New Experience,” every time I open the app it hangs for around 20 seconds with the spinning wheel waiting to open the home screen. While it’s loading I am able to navigate up to the Libraries menu and select a specific library and it opens that library pretty quickly. It’s just the Home screen that it’s taking a while to load.
I am very confused. The issue isn’t with playback, it’s with loading the Home Screen in the UI when I launch the app. Furthermore, I don’t know where to look to see if DEBUG and VERBOSE logging is enabled or disabled. Please advise. Thanks.
The links go to the support article that shows this. Please follow the links. Here is an updated set of steps to please follow.
- Confirm server DEBUG logging is enabled, VERBOSE logging is disabled.
SAVE if changes.
- Enable and Access Local Logging on Roku
- Restart PMS
- Give PMS two minutes to start and stabilize
- Restart Roku App (Press
* while hovering over the Plex app and select Restart App)
- Start a playback
- Let it play for 20 seconds
- Stop the playback
- Download the server logs
- Download the Roku logs
- Attach the logs so I may see them.
As for the playback request, this is just for a point of reference in both set of logs.
If you haven’t tried it yet, a good step to try, that I always recommend, is pulling the power on the TV for 30 seconds. Roku loves to cache app info, which can be useful sometimes, but that means sometimes the only way to clear hiccups when it is hung up is to pull power. Doing the in menu reboot doesn’t always do it. It has regularly fixed oddities in Plex - and other channels\apps - over the years.
Another is removing and reinstalling the app, but I’ve done that in the past and still had a bug until I pulled power so pretty much anytime anything Roku related - particularly the Roku TVs - my first step is to just pull the power.
