For months now when watching amost anything Plex will randomly restart the tv show or movie when pressing replay or rewinding. It doesn’t happen every time. I happens every third or 4th time. It’s been doing this pretty consistently this year.
I assumed Plex would solve this over time but it hasn’t. So I mention it here. I update my server every time an update comes out and my Roku updates plex whenever its updated.
Roku Ultra - of many currently employed in the P’Verse, locally and abroad:
We do (did) have the app completely explode back to Roku Home on occasion (haven’t noticed that since the most recent Roku OS update last week), but rewinding or instant replay doesn’t incite any abnormal tendencies.
Do you have ALL the Analysis Functions activated in Scheduled Maintenance? They are quite necessary.
We use the Roku Ultra (purchased 2 years ago I think - before the pandemic hit).
The app isn’t exploding completely. It’s not knocking us out to the Roku screen. It’s simply restarting the TV show or movie. It’s happening so often now that we try to look at the time stamp of where we are before ever hitting rewind or replay because we know there is a good probability we’ll have to fast forward to it again from the start.
If by 'Do you have All the Analsyis Functions activated in Scheduled Maintenance" you mean the Scheduled Tasks list, all of them are checked except
Refresh Local metadata every 3 days
Update all libraries during maintenance
Refresh library metadata periodically
I’ve never changed these settings from the default. I guess I could check them and see what happens. I’m a bit worried about refreshing the library metadata periodicaly because Plex misidentified many of my movies so I had to manually force a correction. I don’t want my corrected data to be reset to the wrong one. FYI, there is no connectoin between the two. To my memory, the movies and tv shows that glitch as I’ve described (which is pretty much anything if I rewind often enough in it) are none of the one’s I’ve manually fixed.

So sadly turning on all the scheduled maintenance tasks has not made a difference. Also I have once again updated PMS and the roku plex app to the latest versions and the problem still persists.
