I have 3 Roku Ultras and 2 roku sticks…
When I close/exit out of Plex, when i re-open the plex it starts off at the last place I was; it wont go to the home screen.
For example… IF I was looking through movies and I click the HOME button on the remote, when I go back into Plex, it starts off in MOVIES and not the home screen.
Is there something I need to click to always make plex on the roku start on the home screen??
If you are running the latest version and have Roku firmware 9.4 then it should take you back to the home screen if it has been more than 5 minutes.
I do have the latest firmware update on all the rokus…but still open plex, look at movies or TV or music…close PLEX. Go back into plex and it starts off where I left off, not going to the plex dashboard
are you waiting 5 minutes in between doing those
I find this new “feature” annoying at best when it’s a kneejerk reaction for me to exit apps by hitting the Roku Home button, and upon entry I fully expect a default home screen in any app I use.
I have never once thought it took Plex too long to start. I’m curious what the benefit proposal was behind this enhancement?
@AmazingRando24 100% agree.
If I hit the home button on my roku I expect that whatever app I was on should exit and when I start the app again it should start at its default page. I used this a lot in the past to get back to the home page quickly which is now not possible anymore.
The current behaviour is an annoyance albeit a minor one compared to other aspects of the current app design.
I’ll also add that I never found the plex app load time on roku an issue, 2-3 seconds at worst and IMO is no faster now starting, only difference is the page it might goto is different.
It is absolute nonsense to have an app START on a page I left and was done with instead of The Starting Line you expect to begin with when you enter an app.
Congratulations, Plex!
Once again you have taken it upon yourselves to do the most stupid thing possible. Why? Because you have NO IDEA what users want - nor do you care apparently. This is a full blown case of Development run Amok - not in support of users, but in spite of them.
Don’t forget… you have to use the Plex Exit feature, which adds time to the process to achieve expected behavior.
You mean the work-around feature where you don’t dare leave the app until you’re at it’s Home - WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO START!
It takes LONGER to enter the app now, 'cause Plex is looking for the place I left off - now most likely DELETED - after I’ve hammered my way through cascading click walls to get it deleted - and have completely confused Plex who thought it was cool enough to head me off at the pass, but couldn’t find it’s own butt with both hands, much less The PASS.
Oh Well, it’s all academic anyway. Just something else to deal with. We have nowhere to go - and Plex knows it.
It’s depressing. We had a perfectly useful app that was laid out, themed well, and functional in August. I don’t mind changes and improvements… but I’m really not sure where they’re going with this now…
… and you’re right… I have nowhere else to go.
Not sure who’s developing this nonsense and who they’re developing it for - it sure isn’t any of us.
Also depressing is suddenly The Weather Channel doesn’t have fat enough servers - as I see the first inch of what could be a yard pile up here in Appalachia - and me with The Mother of all Chest Colds… I was happy to cough up that Casey Jones (google it) action figure I inhaled in 1959… always wondered where that thing went…
I also use EMBY; faster, stable and more features… However I can’t talk my shared users to switch over
