I guess there was some kind of update pushed out to Rokus a few days ago? I used to be able to scan ahead or backwards in a movie at 2x or 3x speed. There used to be the double-arrow icons under the timeline for both directions. Now they are gone. Only track forward, back and play/pause remain.
The only options are to tap-tap-tap-tap forward and back on the remote… which takes an awfully long time to get partway through a long movie. The other option is to hold forward or back - and that’s even slower than tapping.
Why on earth would a feature like this be removed? What rocket scientist made that decision?
What can be done to get it back?
Are we talking about the buttons in the OSD (On Screen Display)? if so, then yes, those work that way. The buttons on the Roku remote itself will fast forward or rewind.
Yes - I was referring to the OSD icons all along. A few days ago (about a week) - they went away. So - the ability to scan ahead/back at 2x 3x did with it, leaving only “previous/next”
On the remote itself - the fwd/rev arrow buttons only go to end of movie (or on to next episode) or beginning of movie, then previous episode.
seeing nothing further on this I think I am looking to switch platforms at this point. i don’t really understand (nor want to support) a platform that is going to be removing needed features which had been working just fine for years. This combined with other albeit minor annoyances is enough for me to stop paying for a product that is only getting whittled down and isn’t fulfilling my needs.
FWIW, on my Roku (Roku Premiere+), the rwd/fwd buttons on the remote behave as expected, doing rewind/fast-forward at different speeds as I press them multiple times.
