Roku Ultra plays wrong video stream when direct play is forced

Server Version#: 1.20.3.3483
Player Version#: 6.6.12

I have a .mkv file with two 1080p HEVC-10bit video streams. The first is a black & white stream marked as the default, the second is a color version of the same movie.

When I let the Plex server transcode, I can switch between the two video streams fine. When I configure the Roku player to force direct play (since the Ultra supports HEVC), it only ever plays the second non-default color stream regardless of which one I select.

The Roku doesn’t support choosing a video stream during Direct Play. This will require a transcode session. With that said, the transcode session should be able to copy the streams if they are supported. If the streams are compatible, then the transcode session will only be used to remux the streams (copy) and deliver it to the Roku in a compatible container (one video stream).

Understood. I suppose my problem then is that the Plex server does not seem to recognize the fact that the Roku Ultra supports HEVC natively, since it encodes it to h264 unless I force direct play.

Got it solved, my bitrate settings were causing the encode to h264. Bumped it to original and it looks like it’s just remuxing the original streams now.
