We really don’t care that you want to add all this “recently added” or “on deck” crap to the home screen, but it’s upsetting we can’t get rid of it. We also can’t simply show our FOLDERS.
I let a friend look at my iPhone the other day, who doesn’t use Plex (yet), and he simply asked how can he see what I have? Explaining to him how to get to all my media didn’t do Plex (the company) any favors. What would he care about what was recently added? It’s all new to him.
And BTW, to the people who say let it grow on you. Why should I? Inefficiency is measurable, not an opinion. It’s more objective than you think.
I agree, this new ios app is rubbish, I have multiple servers connected and it’s very confusing. Also I like the view with my libraries buttons as the home page, enough of this recently added crap, I don’t care.
This new UI is totally ■■■■■■, maybe it is more snappy, but at the expense of usability. I use Plex (and bought 3 PlexPass) primarily for Movies, i need no Photos, Podcast, News etc…
At least let me choose what to I want to display in the Home Screen. Right now it forced me to display Podcasts, Newscast and On Deck podcasts, which is totally not needed by me.

That’s exactly what the new GUI does allow you to do. Try looking about a bit or reading the article that explains about the new GUI, instead of just ranting. You can edit the items on the homescreen and shortcut bar.

Saying this new ui does exactly what we want it to do is a load of crap. It lets you add recently add or on deck. That’s pretty much it. There is nowhere near enough flexibility in this new ui to remove the features that we are all frustrated about and add back the features we actually want. If this new ui had spent more time in the oven then it may have had a chance.
You can’t remove core functionality and decrease efficiency with the guise of “oh but you get podcasts and can re-order your recently added on the new sparkly home screen”. The fact that the only response that anyone seems to be giving is “get used to it” really irks me too. If you enjoy the new ui, that’s fine, doesn’t mean we have to.
What we want is some form of response from an actual rep of plex who is able to give us a roadmap or some form of indication that we are being heard and our concerns have been taken on board.
I’ve spent the last couple weeks using the new ui, and for me it still isn’t any better. My kids still aren’t able to use it and I still haven’t found a single thing I can add to the home screen that is useful for me.
It used to take 1 click to get to the content I wanted to see. At a minimum that is now three and in bad cases up to 8. Browsing any content uploaded from my phones camera through the app is worse than hopeless too.
I have given it a go, I’ve attempted to use it. All I’m left with is crying kids and a lot of frustration. I have stopped spreading the plex word since this update because everyone I’ve shown the new app to can’t understand it. It’s a mess. It either needs a massive update to add all the missing customisation options or it needs the classic browse mode toggle like the previous version.
I have friends and family who have now stopped watching content through plex using my server because of this version of the ui. That to me speaks volumes.
I hate this new UI !!! It’s takes 6-7 taps just to get to my music selection. It’s a load of garbage. Why are you trying to force feed us this crap. My 5 star rating is now a 1 star. Thank you Plex!!!
