Rosemary and Thyme Plex Theme Music broken

When pulling up Rosemary and Thyme using the Plex metadata on any Roku the theme music playing is broken. It sounds like a car crash or a speaker being blown out. There is no way to stop this theme specifically without turning all themes off.

Is this specific to the theme being played on Roku or do you experience this on all devices for this show (e.g. the web app)?
I just a file to my library and matched it to the show but cannot seem to reproduce what you experience.

It is only happening on Rokus. I’ve tried the Roku TV, the Roku streaming stick, the Roku ultra. It is also the only theme doing it, so no clue what is happening. Web app works fine, so yeah very very odd. I guess Roku broke something on their end

I believe the theme music are files uploaded by Plex users, and then checked by Plex ninjas or employees to verify they fit the criteria. (I can’t find the page about this, just going by memory)

It could be this particular theme has in an unusual bitrate or sample rate or number of audio channels. A number of years ago I had a TV series on the server with a mono soundtrack. My Roku played them fine, but someone I shared with just got the noise you’re describing on their Roku. I remuxed the files with a fake stereo track, and it worked for everyone after that.

Got ya. Hopefully someone can remux the Rosemary and Thyme theme to be more friendly for the non-PC players.

If the file itself was bad, you should experience the same issue on other platforms too. As we both established, the theme appears to be playing fine on Plex Web.

I’ve seen such behavior if you use local theme.mp3 files mixing multiple audio tracks into 1 stereo audio. Though that doesn’t seem to be the case here — unless it’s some super specific property that only applies to Rokus.

I’ve been wondering for a moment if someone might already have fixed the file… then again… it seems to only cause issues with the OP‘s Roku. I’ll ask if there’s a known limitation to the platform but it sounds rather odd to me…

I’m pretty sure that if mono audio was a problem on a Roku, it’s been fixed. Not to mention support for the particular model in question ended many years ago. It was one of the very first Rokus.

It does appear to be Roku based. But the issue is any Roku. I have 3 completely different roku based devices and all 3 have the same issue. It definitely isn’t me at all. Something is causing that theme to not play properly on any Roku.

Also I have an older Roku tv, a brand new Roku ultra and a 2 year old streaming stick. So I’m covering quite some territory with the Roku devices and it happens on all 3.
