For years I have had Plex and I just want a simple way to rotate shots and zoom like even the most basic of photo apps out there have.
Please if you work at Plex just mention this briefly to the app devs. I think they understand how this feature is probably important. We can’t rotate within Plex when looking at photos.

Gonna echo this request. For background, I had all my photos in Aperture, it’s dead now (thanks Apple!) and all the photos are in RAW. I don’t necessarily want to do any editing in Plex, but a place I can quickly browse the photos and tag them would be nice, but the problem is when half the photos are portrait, but are displaying as landscape.

Come on. Photo views need rotation capability. We need this feature to turn our photos. Even the most basic photo viewers everywhere have this capability. Phones, most operating systems, photo viewing apps. Plex is a MULTIMEDIA platform which includes promoting itself as a PHOTO ALBUM viewer.
This request still has no response on even development for it. This is not an impossible task. By any standards, this shouldn’t take long to implement what is a very common procedure for any photo viewer.
Rotate is a must!
I also need to be able to delete photos from the viewer. If I cannot do this, Plex is a NOGO. I will go back to Asustors own Photo Manager. But I really like Plex, so it is sad that such a simple functionality is a showstopper.
A lot of people are migrating from Google Photos now, this is a great oppotunity for Plex.
Rotate is a must ! i love plex for videos and music, and we reeeeaaaalllyyyyy need this ! it makes the photo option not usable to manage a photo collection… please make this small update !
This seems like such a basic feature, especially when PLEX seems to make some pretty arbitrary decisions about photo orientation that ignores the attributes of the image completely.
3 years later and a simple basic feature to rotate the photographs you are viewing doesn’t exist yet.
This means we have to go through each and every piece of media in a folder to rotate them in preparation for Plex’s photo gallery which is a KEY FEATURE of this software package.
Does anyone know of a better software package for serving family photos and home videos from a Synology storage device onto your TV screen where you can rotate the images on the screen?

Completely agree. This should be an option to allow the user to auto-rotate based on device orientation.
