I recently bought a new router and set up an additional wireless network in my home. I decided to put my Samsung TV on the new network and now the Plex app won’t load from my server. Server is on the original network within my home.
Before messing with any settings, I came to do some research, but not finding anything useful.
I’m sorry, but do you mean the plex app on the TV won’t load? Does it load anywhere else (browser)?
Edit: For the former, you likely need to put the router with the new wireless network into “access point mode” in the router settings. This will disable the router acting like its own DHCP server and fragmenting your network.
Plex doesn’t discover clients outside its own subnet or considers them to be remote.
If you need to create that wireless network as a separate network, you can specify that the new network is part of your local network(Settings > [Server Name] > Network > LAN network).
Unless you absolutely need the segmentation it’ll be easier to configure the new router to expand your existing network (e.g. using the main router‘s DHCP; this is sometimes called bridge mode)
Thanks. The new router has vpn capabilities which is what I am working on/learning now. I will set this up since it seems to be the direction I ought to head.
