i had to replace my router as the old one died now i cannot get the tv app to connect to my home server, keeps saying not available, internet works perfectly on the tv, plex media works perfecxtly on my computer (windows 10)
i have tried everything suggested in the forums and google searches, removed all apps etc
rebooted etc, it’s been 2 weeks now, any new suggestions?

Under Setup, you can try manual connection and check your privat port in plex server.
Preset Port be: 32400
mceclip0

And you can go on your name and then try media server status menu.

Quite likely an issue with your DNS resolver (which is usually a part of your router).
“DNS rebinding protection” – see if you can configure your router to allow an exception from this protection for the domain plex.direct.

i am not trying to access my network remotely from another area
remote access is disabled
my tv is in the room next to my computer room
the replacement router is the same make and model as the one that died
it seems to have exactly the same settings as the old one

thanks for the suggestions
i have had a look at the router instructions and there is nowhere an item on DNS rebinding
also logged into the router on line and again no areas for this suggestion
see above reply, the replacement router is the same make and model as the one that died
any other suggestions?

OK i enabled the remote access on my media server
it would not connect on the tv app so i deleted the app and reinstalled it
it then tried to connect to my media server
a message came on the screen telling me i have 2 servers and to pick one and then it disappears before you can do anything, there was no option shown where to pick from the 2 servers i supposedly have
my media server folder then appeared automatically and i could see the contents
clicking on any movie to play i get a message “checking your connection speed”
it disappears then a continuous circle starts and it keeps going on and on
the movie will not start
i only have one media server on my PC so have no idea what is going on

Is there anyone out there that can help with this problem?
I have done everything that has been suggested and nothing works
Should I delete my account and wait the 3 weeks and create a new one?
Would that fix my issue?

Did you in your server under Network activate:
X Enable local network discovery (GDM)
This enables the media server to discover other servers and players on the local network.

Does the PC Plex Media Server work with your Plex on Smartphone or Tablet?

Maybe you can do:
Reset Customization
Reset sidebar navigation and home screen layout to the default state. You’ll be redirected to the Setup screen, where you can choose a server (if you have access to more than one) and other media providers from which to build your navigation and home screen content.

I dont know your router and how it work, so I dont know what it need for allow communicate in local area.

Can you try another pc or laptop with plex for windows or get a fire tv stick or a chromecast from a friend.

can you on tv plex manual search you media server with ip?

We dont have much information about your systems and your setups.

Thanks for the suggestions, City-Cobra
X Enable local network discovery (GDM) is ticked on
I added plex server to my laptop and created a folder called movies
The plex on the laptop also has a link to my desktop server but says it is unreachable
This is same message that appears on my Samsung 4k TV Plex App
The Samsung TV app shows my laptop movie folder and also plays the movies
I still cannot access my desktop server on the Samsung TV 82" 6 years old
Also done the resets as suggested no difference
Also did the manual ip address on the Samsung TV app, made no difference
I also reset my network to its original state, made no difference
So basically, I still have no idea why the Samsung TV app cannot access my desktop server
My router is a Telstra Smart Modem Technicolor CobraXh GEN 3, exactly the same as the one that died except 2 years younger, the settings on it seem the same as my old router
I am running Plex Media Server 1.40.5.8897-e5987a19d on both my desktop and laptop
Movies play through Plex perfectly on both computers
Both computers run windows 10 home latest versions

Ok, then it seems to me to be a network problem on the desktop.
Is it possible that the desktop PC’s network is set to public and not private? Because with public the desktop blocks access.

Thanks for the quick reply
I have set my network to both private and public
neither works

Your second link does not show what is allowed on my pc
none of the suggested links are visible on the app page
update and security are not an option
???
