Routine media scan crashes my Ubuntu Server 22 system

Server Version#:Ubuntu Server v22.04.03
Player Version#:4.123.2

My server got all messed up a while back and I finally got around to rebuilding it from the ground up. Got everything back in place, nice and neat, but now I’m finding that Plex media scans are grinding my server to a halt and I have no idea what to do about it (short of disabling scanning altogether).

System is an i5 w/ 16GB of RAM and sufficient storage space so I doubt the specs are an issue but I’m finding that, when a scan (570 movies and 9500 songs) kick in, the amount of used memory creeps up until the server finally locks up.

Any suggestions on how to effectively troubleshoot this?

This will optimize the DB and usually has a big impact on scanning.

Also make sure “Partial scan” is enabled

As for Crashing…

  1. After it crashes
  2. Download the Logs ZIP file
  3. Attach
