RP3 running PMS, can't find server after switching to ethernet

Hi everyone,

New to forums so I apologize in advance. Here’s my issue, and I’ll be happy to supply additional info as necessary:

PMS is running on a Raspberry Pi 3. I was able to mount an external HDD and access media both locally and remotely.

  • RP3 was connected wirelessly to my AT&T gateway
  • Using official RP3 power source, so no issues there

Everything was running great until yesterday, and I’m having two separate issues:

  1. I plugged my CAT5 ethernet from gateway into the Pi to increase speeds, and locally worked great. Now, I can’t access my PMS remotely. When accessing plex.tv, I am connected indirectly, where my iPhone app won’t connect at all.
  2. Guest sharing - enabled media sharing and when signing in with my brother’s plex account (prior to yesterday) I can see all of my media that is being shared from my master account. However, he can’t access my PMS remotely from his home network. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction as this seems to be a network issue on his end. Would this be a port forwarding issue?

Thanks in advance, I have a great respect for these forums and people like yourselves trying to help those out without the extensive knowledge base that some of you have!

My guess is, that your router still forwards the plex port (32400) to the old IP of your PI. Just manually fix the port forwarding rules in the router or restart the router so the rules installed via upnp are reset.
