Plex Remote Access Not Working

Server Version#:plexmediaserver_1.17.0.1709-982421575_armhf.deb
Player Version#:

I have installed the Plex media server on my Raspberry Pi 4 4GB, and everything seems to have worked except the fact that remote access isn’t working outside of my network. I followed this guide to make the installation. https://www.codedonut.com/raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-plex-media-server-official/

Please do guide me on how to fix the issue. Remote access says available outside my network for a few seconds then suddenly not working. I am a beginner in Raspberry Pi, Linux and anything to do with media servers. It would be great if someone can show me a comprehensive guide to get this started? Really Appreciate it!

Thank You

Did you setup a port forward on your router for this?

Yes I have done that on my router.

Check canyouseeme.org for success on port 32400

I did, it keeps showing Error: I could not see your service on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx on port ( 32400 )
Reason: Connection timed out

I have tried various different ports and yet the same result

Are you running raspbian or what OS did you install on the Pi?

I am running Raspbian Buster, LibreElec, and Lakka. But I have installed the Plex Media Server on Raspbian

Does that have any firewall like firewalld or anything?

That really sounds like your port forwarding is not set up properly. Double check the settings on your router. Make sure you are forwarding to the static ip address of the pi and make sure the external and internal ports are 32400.

I have the same problem ‘Remote access says it is available outside my network for a few seconds in green and suddenly it turns red with the message that access outside my network is not available’
Before it worked for me, the problem occurs after an update of Plex today.

@10mavm_gmail_com please start your own thread to report your own issue.

Yes, I installed ufw on Raspbian, but I have allowed the ports 32400 as part of the rule. Do you think that is causing a problem?

I did double check it, I have attached the image of it here, please do have a look and let me know if it is correct?

Apologies for the late replies, I am in a different time zone.

Looks correct assuming the internal IP is in fact the ip of the pi.

what is the internet-facing ip address on your router. you can remove the last octet, just curious about the first 2 octets.

Yes I did check it, it’s the same IP of the RPi.

Oh that? Hmmm. sorry I forgot which one, can you give me an hour? I will post it.

Ok so right now it’s 49.205.xxx.xxx:32400, hope this is sufficient. I am a little apprehensive about sharing the rest of the IP address. I hope that’s ok and you understand.

Thank you

no, that’s fine. just wanted to make sure it wasn’t a private IP and you had some kind of double NAT situation. to be more specific though, i’m assuming you verified that you see that 49. ip within the router gui bound to the wan ip.
