rPi Plexamp, can I use 7" touchscreen LCD and have it display PlexAmp interface as well?

I have a 7" HDMI LCD that has touchscreen capability, would I be able to use this with the Pi version of Plexamp? the screen is capable of 1024x600 resolution.

here is link to a similar screen Raspberry Pi Screen Touchscreen 7 Inch Mini HDMI Monitor LCD Screen 1024x600 Compatible with Raspberry Pi 400 4 3B+ 3B Windows| | - AliExpress

If I want to do this do i need to use the Desktop variant of Raspberry Pi OS, or is there a lighter way to load the webpage to HDMI display?

I was able to get everything to load following the steps for the screen and then this to load the UI in browser on the PI https://smarthomepursuits.com/open-website-on-startup-with-raspberry-pi-os/

But I’m sure this is a lot heavier than would be ideal, and still not without issues it seems.

I needed to set playback in the browser to the Plexamp pi instance, it defaulted to the browser which was failing, I do need to figure out the cause of the power warning (likely because the screen is powered from the USB connecting the touchscreen capability)

not sure what you mean by a “lighter way”.

that browser selection in the player is just vestigial, we’ll get rid of that

I think I may have found a bug.

If I load the Pi Plexamp URL on another computer, and set the player to the pi’s plexamp instance, album art of the currently playing songs Cover art doesn’t load

Hmm, it works remotely over here just fine. What browser? Any errors in the logs?

Firefox, weirdly when I open the inspector it displays the image when I hover the link. Tested in Safari and same issue. Works in Edge.

[moderator edit: image shows the token. delete it from that image hoster ASAP.]
[OP: deleted]

■■■■■■■ browsers; we’ve been living in walled garden of Chrome for the last two years

I’ve added it as a custom site in Ferdium, my messaging client… Being Electron based that’s chromium, so works great to control the pi from my desktop machine! GitHub - ferdium/ferdium-app

Now to 3D print an enclosure for it all

@elan here are errors from Firefox for the images, not sure where else to post it?

i deleted the image because it had your token showing. you can DM it to me.

In case this is related (though not a touchscreen issue), for me, I get album art in Brave (chromium), but on my mac using the fabulous MenubarX menu bar browser (which I assume is webkit under the covers), I get no album art.

Might be fixed in the next release, otherwise w/o errors hard to tell what the issue is.

Fixed for me in beta 2 - I now see album art in MenubarX and Safari on macos.
