Run Sonic Analysis on Playlists and Suggest Songs to Add

Exactly like on Spotify, after you make a playlist, it offers suggestions at the bottom for songs to add. I think Plex could achieve something similar by using the Sonic Analysis feature. Scan the playlist as if it were an album, and then suggest sonically similar songs to add to that playlist.

Sonic Analysis is amazing. I absolutely love scrolling down to the bottom of albums, artists, and individual songs to see what I might have that sounds similar. The things it finds frequently surprise me.

However, I started creating my own playlists and was surprised to see that there are no “similar songs” at the bottom. This is something I always enjoyed on Spotify, because I could think of a playlist theme, add a few songs, and then get ideas for more songs or even discover music I hadn’t heard by looking at the suggestions below.

Yes, I can play the playlist and use a DJ to find more songs, then manually add them as they come up. But it would seem like the requisite data would already be there to show suggestions and it would allow me to spin up an awesome playlist in seconds.

I picture it working similar to the Album Mix Builder; you add some albums and you get recommendations for more albums. Here you’d add some songs to a playlist and you’d get song recommendations, presumably a set of songs where each song has a high similarity score to one or more songs in the playlist. Bonus points if you can refresh the list if you don’t like the suggestions.
