Running PlexConnect and PMS on the same Mac?

Is it possible to run PlexConnect and Plex Media Server on the same Mac? 

 

I have tried to run PlexConnect on my Mac Mini but when I try to connect to it, the ATV can't connect and tells me that I have to try later. If I run PlexConnect on my iMac it works just fine and Terminal finds my PMS on my Mac Mini. I have also tried to hard code the ip-adress on my Mac Mini but Terminal can't find the PMS which are running on the same Mac.

 

It must be possible to run PlexConnect and PMS on the same Mac....weird otherwise!

Yes you can, in fact i would suggest it is the best way to run it.

I did some fiddling and now I know what caused the problem. PlexConnect doesn't work when I have my VPN tunnel on but works fine when I disconnect.

Glad you sorted it, although the routing can get messy with VPN's.

If you are using your VPN to get e.g. Netflix USA you can always switch to a DNS based provider.
