I have 3x Music Libraries (Main, Soundtracks and Live).
Some artists appear in 2 or 3 Libraries (eg Massive Attack, or Air).
I had to rebuild my Plex server recently as my NAS crashed.
Before the crash when I would search for one of these artists it would come up with say “Massive Attack”, I would click on it and then it would ask/prompt me to select which library. The Artist was consolidated in the search.
It was like the Artists were merged across the libraries and I liked it like that.
But for the life of me I can’t find the way to set this up again.
Does anyone know what I am talking about? I wish I had a screenshot to show you but if I had one I wouldn’t have the problem
I doubt it makes a difference, but I am running Plex in docker on my Synology NAS (and was before the crash as well - so its the same setup)
Make sure the libraries use the same agent and are configured to be included in the global search.
All those options should be available in the advanced tab when editing the libraries. If you have to change an agent, make sure to refresh the library metadata in the process.
The hosted and bundled versions of Plex Web are on different releases. The hosted web app is regularly updated while the bundled one will only be updated with a server update (which doesn’t happen with every server release).
It’s generally not necessary to use the bundled version (except during the server setup or in case of severe connectivity issues).
