Hi everyone,
I’ve been out today and purchased a digital tuner for our Samsung smart tv. I have done the auto search on the tv and it has found all the freeview channels but i can’t seem to find the tv when searching for it via the plex settings i’ve entered both the device name and ip address of the tv but it still does not find it.
Have i misunderstood what devices i need to complete the setup and make it searchable or should i be able to use the plex Live & DVR feature via a smart tv with freeview capabilities?

The tuner needs to be connected to the computer running the Plex server. And then you need to have Plex find the channels.
Plex is a Client/Server environment. Check out the article What is Plex? for a further description.
Your Samsung TV is a client, this connects to the server to stream the media that you request via the client.
You need a computer/NAS running Plex Media Server. This is the bit that communicates with a supported tuner whether it be over network or connected via usb to provide the content to the client.
ah ok so i need an additional supported device as well as the antenna i have purchased. Silly me lol thanks for the help guys
