I have just picked up a Samsung 2020 Tizen TV. As per topic, Live TV DVR always Transcodes no matter what settings. It appears from the Logs that this is due to the HLS Protocol. Recording of Live TV DirectPlays without any problems. Just not Live TV. Every other Plex Client I have DirectPlays Live TV without issue - Roku and CCwGTV. Why will you not allow the Plex App on Tizen to DirectPlay Live TV?
Has anyone else come across this or is it just me? I found some release notes for an older version of the Tizen Client that stated Live TV is now force Transcoded - but why???
Makes no sense. You can even point to the network tuner as a source on the TV, and it plays fine. As long as it’s not going through Plex. Most likely this is some kind of mistake that’s easily remedied.
