Samsung TV app Library A-Z right side vertical bar missing

This is hard to explain. But I am hoping someone here has a fix for this. I have several TV and computers, cellphones, you name it, Running plex apps. They are all ok except one of my Samsung TV. The plex app on this TV is missing the vertical A-Z bar on the right side while on library mode. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling the app and still missing. No updates available either. This is the only device with this problem. I have over 3000 movies so you can imagine holding the scroll down button for minutes. Just to get to the bottom of the list. I tried to find a support email for plex but Aparently the firm is the only way.

Known issue, a fix is in the pipeline but I don’t have an ETA.

+1 to fix this. It takes me 4+ minutes to get to the later alphabet movies. Oceans Eleven last night was 4 minutes 22 seconds.
I hope it happens soon

Thanks for the info.

Agree, all of a sudden no Alphabet Picker and extras that aren’t used or explained fully as to why needed.

Keep It Simple Principles aren’t being applied. Is this more lipstick on the cosmetically challenged swine?

Beginning to wonder why I went for the Lifetime Pass last year.

Plex is many things but simple is not one of them; it is, in fact, quite complex with a number of moving parts.

If you want simple, I suggest going with DLNA or sticking a USB with your video files on it into your TV set.

Realistically we ALL want something that works!

I could use a USB hard drive as well, and bypass Plex. However, like most of us, we want something that works well for what we are paying for (whether that is by year or lifetime).

People pointed this problem out in earlier threads and posts. I was happy to use Plex because of the capable reliance on it, but someone is adding more and more odd functionality to it without talking/asking/surveying those that are paying customers.

Likewise, I suggest taking a better approach in responding to customers and those asking why and when or status of problems.

Suggest that moderators also read the rules for “Welcome to Plex Forum”

Agreed! And sometimes patience is required.

Sure! Please explain to me how this is constructive criticism?

I’m perfectly comfortable in the way I answered your post.

Then how about some REAL answers to the various threads and posts asking about the status of it?

You pointed out that you didn’t appreciate the “simple statement”. In initial advertising, it was a “simple installation” and usage. So is putting an astronaut/cosmonaut in space to the common person. However, behind the scenes there is a very much involved. The attention is drawn to the problem when things don’t go right, when the ‘simplicity’ is lost.

People are asking question and wanting results, NOT someone telling them to take their problem elsewhere (which is what you implied). By implying to put my media on a USB and using that, thereby bypassing the PMS altogether. That IS NOT assistance, that is avoidance!

To an outsider, the lack of the ALPHABET BAR looks like someone left out lines of code from version x.xxx.1 to version x.xxx.2 and to simply put the code missing in. Obviously there is more to it, how about describing what is causing the problem. Is it Plex? Is it Samsung? Is it a revision of Python?

The bug is real. Plex developers are aware of it. The fix is in the pipeline, there is no ETA because Plex doesn’t share timelines, roadmaps, etc.

Exactly as I politely posted 6 days ago in this very thread. There isn’t anything else to share.

I don’t have any other code details to share because again, Plex typically doesn’t share out that information. And even they did, it doesn’t change anything about how soon users will see a fix.

I appreciate it. I just hope it’s soon.
I just passed 3050 movies in one folder and when they scroll down 6 at a time, I have to think about putting a book on the button while I go to the bathroom, or get a snack
Again, thanks for the information

Closing this as a dupe of Alphabet picker disappeared on Samsung tv but just to reiterate, the fix is in Samsung’s release pipeline right now. We’re just waiting on them to approve it.
