SAT>IP testing and updating feedback form

I’m testing SAT>IP on a Triax TSS 400, appears to work well except a few niggles, and like others after submitting a form I can’t see how to update my feedback.

hmm. we turned off collecting emails in Google form because we did not think Google needed them it but it is needed to send you a copy of your answers via email. In the email there should be a link to get back to your individual responses where there is a Edit Responses link. I can enable that now but it won’t be retroactive to get back to your original answers submitted previously

i just got an email from plex, i am now supposed to have access to new devices, but my sat>ip device does not show up, it is an octopusnet, how do you access your sat>ip device?

@mdesdin,

Sat>ip don’t consistently work for all devices, hence why we are doing this program with unsupported tuners. As we are seeing, some work and some don’t. There’s a bit of work to get sat>ip to not suck and we’ve got a guy who knows about this stuff who is working with the DVR team.

It’s working on my TSS-400 as said but I had to revert to the HW transcode release. The channels were really messed up with hard of hearing audio tracks and no way to change :frowning:

Works so far stabile for digital devices octopus net v2

@Johnnyh1975 how did you add the DD OctopusNET v2 to PMS? It is not discovered by my Server and I cannot add it by using the IP Address. Is there some port I have to add?

@Tobtschik I’m not sure if it’s still the case but with the community tuners you originally had to be on a list of testers to be able to see the tuner. I know for my ip sat device it just detected it automatically so I’d image it would for others.

@kinoCharlino @keithah

When you add the role “tuner tester” e.g. for @Tobtschik , does it automagically enable the SAT->IP stack in the PMS Tuner Service? or is there more security in your user management involved that could potentially block the functionality?

I already am on this list. No luck adding the OctopusNET Tuner so far. Thanks @iPhonedation for your help. I will wait for the newest PMS version to be available for my FreeNAS Installation.

Yes it does enable it. Currently we don’t block the functionality and folks have had mixed results with OctopusNET.

@kinoCharlino I don’t think this a problem with the OctopusNET. I have TVHProxy running via Docker. After restarting PMS and adding a new DVR it is shown as supported device, but after a few seconds it disappears and PMS is „looking for supported devices“ without ever finding TVHProxy again. I can manually add it via IP:Port, though.

The OctopusNET was never shown in the list. Adding via IP or IP:554 (Port taken from M3U list) does not work.

There could be a couple of issues there, as Docker doesn’t always play nice with things outside. Docker in general adds additional complexity to the scenario. Engineers have experienced tuners disappearing in Docker. They note problems passing SSDP all the time. That is an unsupported scenario, so your mileage will vary.

SSDP should not be a problem, since the TVHProxy Container is using the host interface. Airsonos works absolutely perfect in this scenario. To rule out interference I will try and stop the Airsonos Container before testing again.

As soon as I got some time to spare I will investigate further with Wireshark.

Octopus Net V2 S2 Max works fine here with many parallel recordings and watching live tv. They show up in the device list and channel scan found 1460 channels (on Astra 19.2E). You have to wait a few minutes for the epg matching screen (too many channels?).

As I know the tvhproxy has no SSDP protocol implemented.

So, some early added device are shown up shortly if you click “Add new device”. Have this too with some test devices. Only “real” ssdp announced devices are shown durable.

Initiale it didn’t Show up. I tried multiple Times to find it. After a Necessaire restart of plex server it suddenly was recognized. I didn’t do anything special.

Singe then it works pretty stable

I have a Telestar Digibit R1 running satip-axe firmware (minisatip 0.7) which is working fine in TVHeadend.
I stopped TVHeadend (so it does not block the tuners), have no TVHproxy running, and can see the device in Plex.
But when I do the channel scan, it comes up with 3 dropdown boxes. I select 19.2E in the first one and leave the other 2 empty as these are for Disecq which I don’t have or use.
Plex then does the channel scan (takes some time as there are over 1500 channels) and I can confirm in the Web UI of minisatip, that it is using one tuner and iterates over all frequencies.
But afterwards, Plex says no channel has been found.

So I’m wondering how you guys are doing this with Octopus Net or Triax? Do you use TVHproxy?

Hi,

minisatip is not properly working with the sat->ip/dvb backend PlexDVR uses. But the Devs are talking to each other as I know for sure.

So for now you either generate the .json files by hand for Minisatip and put them into the web folder (dunno where for Telestar D1 these are though) or you should use TVH inbetween.

Hi
wasn’t sure which SAT>IP thread to post on after a search, so adding my info here
I have added a row to google sheet community testing about this

I have Mega Sat MEG-8000 Sat>IP
which I’d had to previously use with NextPVR as last time I tried PLEX wouldn’t set it up correctly - so well done on the work so far as now it is detected and setup.

I had some trouble at first try as I had a HDhomerun quad FREEVIEW previously setup (but in my location the signal on FREEVIEW is hopeless)
Initially I added the SAT>IP while thie other tuner was still listed and then wondered why I didn’t get any choice for a guide set of data.
I’ve now deleted DVR to clear all settings
and added the MEG-8000 in as the only tuner, then completed my POST CODE area and can now choose Sky listings
However found it a VERY slow task to correctly match up channels on the left to guide channels on the right (are there some files I can edit? by hand to do this in future - and especially as I gave up mapping all the channels I might want)

Is is possible to have the options to :

  1. show/hide when wanted the frequency information on the left
  2. for the list of channel names have some easy way to jump or search, as scrolling with a mouse was very slow
(if there is somewhere to manually edit some files that would be great)

seems that I have found something to help with this

i.e. where to edit an xml entry in database for channels
such as reported in this bug post > [BUG REPORT WITH SOLUTION] Channels not showing up with WinTV-dualHD

I was able to get channel 4 HD listed as it should be as it is incorrectly listed on the right during channel pairing as “protected” when it is broacast unencrypted and clear > https://en.kingofsat.net/find.php?question=channel+4+hd

so although there may be other error in channel pairing I was only interested in Channel 4 HD at the moment
