SATA hard drives vs SAS hard drives in large array

Currently looking at building a new hard drive array for a new plex server. I have settled on the following LSI HBA:

Right now trying to decide if I should do the SATA or SAS version of the same Seagate EXOS 16tb hard drive:

Exos SAS: https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16822184808

Exos SATA: https://www.newegg.com/p/1Z4-002P-015K6

At the time of this post the two above drives are within $10 a drive of each other. On my last PLEX build I used Seagate Ironwolf drives in a combo of 8tb and 12tb sizes connected through an IBM m1015 flashed to IT mode and an Intel SAS expander. I ran into some bottle necking issues during my FLEXRAID parity caclulations and would like to avoid that this time around. Will SAS drives provide more consistent throughput in a large array of about 24 hard drives? I have read that SATA drives can begin to bottleneck over 8 drives but I don’t know if this was a m1015 limitation. Since FLEXRAID is kaput I will be giving Snap Raid a go this time around. Thank you in advance for your help!
