I have the Plex Server installed on my MacBook. I have both TV and Movies spread over a number of different drives. Is there a way to just re-scan a single folder or drive. I see where I can tell it to scan just the TV library, but it takes forever since it goes thru everything and ties up NAS and MacBook time. Surely there is a way to just tell it to check a smaller portion. In restructuring things for Plex, I am having to do things differently than the was it was originally setup under XBMC. For example, under XBMC I had Winds of War and War and Remembrance all in one folder since they really are a combines mini series. But due to the tvdb issue, I realized I had to put them in separate folders, same HDD, just put in individual folders. I just want to re-scan the folder on drive 4, not the whole library as it takes days.
No, you can only tell Plex to scan an entire library through the Plex UI itself.
However… if this is a significant pain you can manually trigger a scan for a specific folder using Plex Media Scanner in your terminal.
The executable is part of the Plex Media Server’s app bundle and includes a help message that’ll detail the command options (actions, targets, modifiers…)
/Applications/Plex\ Media\ Server.app\Contents/MacOS/Plex\ Media\ Scanner --help
