Library Scans

I have the following server settings,
Windows 7 Plex Version 1.13.9.5456

x Scan my library automatically
Your library will be updated automatically when changes to library folders are detected.

x Run a partial scan when changes are detected
When changes to library folders are detected, only scan the folder that changed.

When I add a new movie or TV episode, Plex starts scanning as expected.
But that scan takes hours to complete, Yes they are very large libraries but I thought that only the new movie/TV folder would be scanned and not all the movie or TV folders.

When I select just one of the two options, no folder scans happen, Only way it seems to work is if both are selected but then it scans everything.

Also it seems to queue any additional scans for additionally added movies/TV episodes.
I see that if I tell it to stop scanning the library, it stops for a few seconds and starts back up.

As a note I’ve seen this issue for a long time with previous versions of PMS but now that the libraries are so large, scanning doesn’t seem to catch up… Episodes added today may not show up in Plex for days… My current solution is to disable the above scan options, restart PMS and start manual library scanning on each library.

Anyone have suggestions how to get it to work scanning just the movie/episode and not the whole library.

The scan works at the folder level, so what gets scanned will depend on your organization structure.

Also, check to make sure your media has been matched. If not, the scan will try to match files again. If it can’t match, it will try again at the next scan. If you have a lot of these, this can keep going in a loop for a long time. If you can add a file then provide me the logs from PMS, I can check if this is happening or if it’s something else.
