Scan my library automatically doesn't work on FreeBSD

I’m running Plex in a jail on FreeBSD 11.3 (FreeNAS but not FreeNAS plugin) and the “Scan my library automatically” doesn’t seem to work. It never discovers new media unless I manually start a scan or tell it to periodically run a scan. Because of the large size of my library and how often new media is added running a scan periodically is not really a practical solution for me.

Could this be a configuration issue or maybe a bug?

Its a limitation on FreeBSD, it doesn’t support the mechanisms for filesystem watching that PMS needs so it won’t work.

You’ll have to rely on manual/periodic scans, some folks also use sonarr/radarr to manage adding new media which can be setup to “trigger” scans via the API when files are added.
