So, on my Synology NAS DS220+ I installed a new WD Red 12 TB HDD today. Got it all initialized, new storage pool, new volume… basically totally separate from my existing HDD. Moved some media over to the new HDD to test with. For simplicity sake, since I don’t have a ton of media, I uninstalled Plex from Volume 1 and installed it fresh onto the new 12TB Volume 2.
Seems like it’s working fine, but I set up libraries for some of this media I moved onto the new HDD and when I scan, it doesn’t appear to even try to find a match. So the show has a generic title from my folder I presume, episodes aren’t getting named, etc. If I manually go to “Match…” and pick the item from the list (it’s the only item in the list)… everything starts to go. But it always used to do that on its own in the scan.
Even more bizarre, if I do the Plex Dance… which I only recently learned was an actual thing lol, I started doing that on my own a while ago just from trying stuff myself… scanning the library isn’t removing the TV shows I added (that never tried to find a match). It’s not even tagging them as unavailable or ready to be trashed. The only way I can actually remove them is deleting the library entirely and re-creating it.
I’m kinda wondering if when I uninstalled Plex, it didn’t get rid of everything maybe and now it’s really confused. I manually deleted the “Plex” shared folder and user. Could it be that? Maybe it’s some sort of permissions issue, though I made sure the plex user has read access to the media folders (which is all it’s ever needed before). What else should I maybe look for?
Or any other ideas why this might be happening?
Thank you.
