Scanning Music Library Errors?

I’m having trouble adding a music library to an existing server.

This is happening on a MacMini server running Plex 1.14.1.5488

I add the library, and the scan starts finding and adding files right away, but then progress stalls. I suspect that somewhere in the library a song is named with an illegal character, or there’s a bad file.

Where in the logs should I look for an error to start tracking this down?

see Advanced Music Library Scan stopped

Interesting, thanks.

A bit more detail… What I’ve got here is a collection of Top 100 hits organized by year. Some folders have 50 tracks, the rest have 100 tracks.

The reason why I think there’s an illegal character is because Plex starts scanning and adding tracks very quickly and then just stalls.

If there’s a specific log file that I should look at I think it might help narrow down the issue.

Either one of the Scanner logs or the com.plexapp.agents.plexmusic.log(.n)

Thanks @OttoKerner I’ll look there.

Since your last comment I’ve looked closer at the metadata on the tracks I’m trying to add, and there are some that have incomplete title and artist fields.

For anyone else on a Mac that comes across this, I found Tag Editor from Amvidia software that is a fast and lightweight application for viewing, modifying and batch-editing. Tag Editor supports ID3 tags for MP3, WAV, AIFF, FLAC files, and MP4 tags for MP4 and M4A files.
