So, I’m sure most of us have several different servers, one for movies or TV shows ect. But is there a way to see in Plex if an actor is in both at the same time? for example; Tim Allen was in Galaxy Quest and Home Improvment but if I look at the former the later wouldnt show. If this isnt a feature yet it really should be and if it is please let me know how.
FYI I have the lifetime plex pass if that should make a difference
The actual search will but if you mean when clicking on the actors thumbnail on a preplay it will not.
From preplay that is not a search result, it is a the library you are in filtered on that actor Though pretty sure that is on the list of the many many things we would like to add . We are in the middle of improving the matching agents and when that is done and we can possibly link the same actor from different databases more easily without merging actors that have the same name.
in the “quick search” where it shows a drop down as you type, it will only shows results form the servers which you have libraries pinned. if you hit enter it should show you results from all. it should have the item and what server it is on. This is in the web app I have not double checked the rest.
which is great and all but why not on the “preplay”? on something like a roku or ps4 searching like that is long and difficult, the preplay option would make things smoother in my opinion
There’s a dedicated feature suggestion that’s asking to show all content of an actor/artist/… when clicking on their photo/link on a movie page.
Considering the search is already working as requested (see BigWheel’s posts) and there’s a duplicate covering the other gap you raised… I’ll close this suggestion.
