i hesitate to ever bring this up… cause i’m definitly an edge case (my library is so large)
i get around the sluggish database by running the database in ram.
but there is one thing i can’t get around, that drives me and the family crazy, that i wish there was some way you could fix…
namely SEARCH.
several years ago (by the the time the library had grown to a certain size.) Search basically broke/stopped working. well it works… but only if you leave out common words.
i tell the family if your looking for say, Gone With the Wind, search “Gone Wind”, if your searching for Chaplins The Kid, search for “kid”…
because if there is a common word in your search words, Plex will search for a minute then time out and say there are NO RESULTS (when in fact the thing is in the library, and if i search for just “kid” and not “the kid” plex returns the hit instantly…
there must be something about the way plex searches, that if there are too many results with one of the words in the search being very common (a, the, is, of, and… etc)
it just times out after a bit…
again i know i’m an outlier with a library larger than plex even envisioned… but if there was just some way to not have plex searches like time out and say there are no results.
could the time out be increased? i wouldn’t mind the wait, just so as it actually returned the results that are actually there/in the library. : ) : (
