Search in the web player

Hopefully this is a simple one…

I use both the web player and the Plex app on the same PC so I can have multiple screen open. What I just realized is that in the web app, when I search for a title it ONLY gives me results on my server. It does NOT give me any results that are not already on it.

I am 99% sure that this functionality worked in the past with the web app. I thought Plex was just slow adding new title to it’s library. As a check I did the same search on the Plex app and it finds most of the same title that I couldn’t find in the web app.

Is this a recent change or is something else going on?

Each client has their own setting for search, and it is not very obvious (to me) where to find it. Check to see if you disabled “More Ways to Watch” in your search bar on your browser.

  1. Click the search bar.
  2. Click the options bar that appears on the right side.
  3. Toggle on the “More Ways to Watch” option.

Good suggestion. I never noticed that before. However, the option I have there is my server and another greyed out one called “Dev Flags”.

So I decided to clear cache on the browser and try it again and now the expected online sources show back up.

Thanks!
