Brand new to Plex. Intending to use it as a DVR for my OTA channels.
All is functioning as expected, but can I not actually search for a tv show that’s in the future on my OTA channels, to set it to record?
I have a show that airs on one of my OTA channels - the first episode of the new season starts in just under 2 weeks from now. If I use Plex’s main Search function and search the show, it displays prior seasons available for streaming, but nothing about the forthcoming new season. For that matter, I’ve never gotten Search to show anything that is to air on an OTA channel in the future.
So do I have to manually browse the guide and dig to two weeks from now to set this show to record? I don’t see any kind of search function in the guide itself.
The OTA guide is typically only good for about 10 days ahead. For me, my guide shows “unknown” for all shows starting at 5PM on Sunday the 23rd. So if a show starts in 2 weeks, it won’t be in the guide yet, so a search won’t find it.
To search, you can use the general search bar at the top of the browser client, and it should appear as one of your search results. For example, on MyTV, a show I do not own called “Dateline” is airing soon. If I search for “Dateline”, the first result in my search bar is for the TV show. I can quick record by pressing the button, or click on the title to get more info:
Thank you so much for your reply, Divideby0. It looks like the answer is about how far out the guide actually goes. When I searched for something that’s within the next 7 days, it did show up in the list. So I guess that’s the key here!
