I am testing out Plex with the plex pass for recording from my HDhomerun tuners. It works fine for shows already in the guide but so far I haven’t seen a way to record future shows that aren’t in the guide yet. In my current system (sagetv) I just go into favorites and add an item by Keyword, and select all Fields or Title Only. I am guessing maybe it requires a command line, which is fine but I haven’t found something like that. Often we see an advertisement for a new show coming sometime in the future and with SageTV I just go add it via the keyword (usually in the Title) and it records once it shows up in the guide. I then usually delete the keyword entry and replace it from the guide. I’m sure this must be available as who can remember to keep looking in the guide for months till it shows up. Thanks, Bill
No, this feature does not exist; you can only schedule new recordings for items in the EPG. There are multiple feature requests which might address it, if implemented. Here are two popular ones:
Wow, thats truly a big missing feature when you are required to pay for Plex Pass to do OTA recording. Kind of glad I chose the monthly option so I’m only out $5. Searching the guide also doesn’t work, another particularly odd missing feature on a DVR. I guess I am not moving from SageTV in the foreseeable future.
Can you elaborate on this? You can search the guide through in the web client, at the top-left. Just enter your search and then click “Search all sources.” Or, you can browse all shows/episodes/movies/etc… present in the guide on the Browse tab of Live TV & DVR.

Never mind, I saw you made a separate post where you provide more detail. I replied there.
