Playing around with several Plex Clients (FTV Cube, FTV 4k, Rasplex, Samsung App, Kodi for Plex, PMP,…) the last days.
In near future i will Update my Home Cinema Setup with a new Sound System and maybe a new 4k TV.
My Favorite Player, Rasplex, is not updated anymore, so i’m looking for a good and reliable new Client. Streaming various MKV’s with mostly DTS, DTS-HD, TrueHD and so on.
I want:
Passtrough all possible Audio Formats to the AVR
Play 4K Video in directplay
DolbyVision and HDR Support
Working without Mouse and Keyboard
which Player is the “best” Player at the moment?
Dealing with a NUC with installed PMP, but PMP is not really maintained anymore as far i understand, only Bugfixing.
Or a Nvidia Shield Pro (not the Tube), but read different statements about this Device what is working and what not.
Alternative is an Android Box with Kodi or the Plex Android App.
For the love of every media god everywhere, get an AppleTV 4k and get Infuse, you will never in your life again look at any Plex player product the same way…
Plex is a great Media Manager but their players suck
I have no other Apple product and basically i don’t like them at all.
So i don’t need AirPlay or any other Apple Features.
But if the player is really great, then it is maybe worth to have a look on it.
I have no idea why to use Kodi. Maybe there is any reason i don’t know about, or at least i don’t think about?
If there is any great thing i can do with kodi?
It’s kinda what Infuse is on Apple TV. Just on Android and PC and a few other platforms.
i.e it can often play directly what otherwise would require transcoding in the Plex client. And it is highly customizable, if you’re into that kind of thing.
