Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685
Player Version#: 4.145.1
Not sure if this is a player or a server issue (I would say it is more on the server side).
In the desktop player some of my library entries (I have observed that mostly with artists) do not show up when I do a search by the artist name, but I can still find them by navigating directly to the library, and by searching for one of their albums (even though I had some issues with that too).
It is worth mentioning that the artist I have in mind is present in two different libraries (not the same location on the hard drive and not the same albums either).
It is also worth mentioning that when I do the search using plexamp, and choosing the specific library where the artist is, I can find the artist, but the search is way (like by a lot) slower than any other artist I look for in the same library.
This happens to me on the Plex android app but not on the browser app. I posted before showing how nothing shows up when I search “Lord of the Rings” but it works in browser.
Thank god the new Plex android app that’s in Beta seems to have this fixed.
You said artists, so do you mean this only happens in Music? Coz you should retag your post to plexamp since music will be removed from the main plex app soon.
Also if I search for abb or ab nothing shows up but if I search for abba+‘a letter’ (abbas for example), or just a results start to appear.
Looks like (“ab”, “abb”, “abba”) are doomed
Of course I did not try all the letters of the alphabet, but this is at least what I am observing.
It makes me doubt more and more the case of a corrupted database.
I’m naturaly open for any other opinions and discussions.
Edit: if this is not clear enough, I have other cases where I search for artists with 3 or 4 letters and they show up normally, so it is not related to the length of the searching word.
Edit2: aabb works too, this smells like some kind of bad interpretation of the input string from the UI I’d say (it needs two a to make a good a)
Since no one seems to be caring about the issue, I continued digging, and it looks like the issue is not happening on edge (my first tests where done on firefox)
So I thought it is a browser issue.
Then I tried on firefox in Incognito mode, and everythinig was fine.
So I just signed Plex out and in again on firefox; and now everything is back to normal (whatever normal means with plex )
