Whats up with Search

i know Plex cant handle multiple artists. Like if an track was made by Bob and Marie the artist “Bob and Marie” will be created.

But when you search for Bob, it only shows the albums of Bob, not of “Bob and Marie”… This makes the plex useless for my usecase as music library.

Is there any fix upcoming? Or is there something i could be, besides not mentioning Marie?

The search engine was changed a few months back. While it is being promoted as a feature,I do not feel that search has improved, but the display of results has a better UI.

Examples include

  1. search with an apostrophe (special characters) needs to be included to show in the top results if the official title has it.
  2. Certain keywords give priority to unintended results such as “movie” prioritizing a streaming channel
  3. I’ve experienced results where the top result is for content on a shared server and not my server for the same content

I feel that search results has been a step back (too sensitive to almost exact keyword) and not to include the metadata that would enable better search results. .Examples could include using the metadata of rating to influence the result order or owner content over shared content for top results.

I hope that search is being actively refined.

This is probably because of this bug: Bug: Plex Web sometimes fails to load local metadata

Which is part of a bigger problem that keeps getting ignored. Tldr: Plex can time out reading the database, not showing that the movie is available locally.

And I agree with your observations. I have noticed the same things.
