Secure Connection Issue With 2 Plex Servers

I have two servers running on the same subnet. Everything but Secure Connections is working, This has always been an issue since I built the second server. Any suggestions to correct this would be appreciated, as I’ve been looking for a solution for some time now.

Server #1 Version#: server 1.20.3583 (Ubuntu) port 32400
Server #2 Version#: Camper 1.20.3583 (Windows) port 32500

As you can see from the screen shot server is working properly and camper is not.

Thanks!

I could be wrong, in fact, I probably am. Preamble out of the way, I think the green lock shows up if https in use at the same time that area of the page is refreshing.

You have it set to force secure connections only right?

Both are set to preferred.

The browser on the left is connected with https the left with http.

What happens when https:// is prefixed to the server 1 url?

I was actually staring at the same issue myself last night and I chalked it up to there being a requirement to use http instead of https in some instances when transferring the data. Plex made a blog post about it and touted offering TLS certificates as the solution.

I’m on Linux as well and the green light comes and goes.

Server 1 is https:// which is the issue. I can’t access both servers (server #2) unless I allow insecure connections.

Yea everything works well on the Linux box, it’s just the windows box that is having issues.

Are you referring to this for the TLS cert?

Thanks!!

Yes, that is the document I was referring to. Allow me to join your plea for help.

May we please see some Log files?
There is nothing we can do without them.

  1. Settings - Server - General - SHOW ADVANCED
  2. DEBUG = enabled, VERBOSE = disabled. – Click SAVE if anything changed.
  3. Restart PMS
  4. Wait 2 minutes
  5. Rereate the problem (capture it in the logs)
  6. Download the logs ZIP file
  7. Attach that ZIP file here.

This issue seems to have cleared up on it’s own. It started working again on Sunday 11-15-2020. Oddly enough notifications of new content on Server #1 started working again on this date, not having worked for the previous week.

However I have uploaded the logs from server #2 for you to review in case there’s something for you learn from them.

Thank you for your time!!

Server #2 is back to not allowing secure connections.

I think that log is too big. You need to clear out your logs, then reproduce the problem, then immediately export the log. Or you can just copy and paste what’s happening in the console as you recreate the problem.

Or do a session capture from within firefox developer or chrome developer and export it. Caution: I don't know what (if any) sensitive data would need to be excluded (ip addresses, cookies, json values, etc)

I think your best bet would be to take screen shots of your settings. It needs to be verified your Plex is properly configured. Perhaps this information can be found in the Logs, but the amount of people that know how to scrape the relevant data and are also willing to make the effort are in the minority to those that know how it should look in the GUI.
